# UniFi Protect Goes Campus-Ready: Smoke Alarms, Vape Sensors, Fingerprint Access and New Cameras

*Ubiquiti has added the life-safety, environmental and access-control pieces that large sites need — a UniFi Smoke Alarm, a vape/air-quality sensor, a G3 Fingerprint Reader, a G6 Mini Dome and the AI MultiSensor 2 — all managed natively in UniFi.*

UniFi Protect started as a camera system. With this wave it becomes a genuine campus security platform — covering life safety, environmental monitoring and access control alongside video, all in the one license-free UniFi console. As Ubiquiti puts it, this delivers "the final pieces needed for truly large-scale deployments."


## What's new for large-scale security


UniFi Smoke Alarm — a life-safety device with a 10-year backup battery, SuperLink long-range connectivity, and a mobile app to silence false alarms
Vape Detection & Air-Quality Sensor — PoE plug-and-play, with real-time calibration and native UniFi automations for safety workflows
G3 Fingerprint Reader — indoor/outdoor access supporting fingerprint, Touch Pass, Bluetooth and PIN; PoE-native with retrofit-hub compatibility
G6 Mini Dome — a compact 4K camera (100 mm) with a 1/1.8" sensor, IK08 vandal resistance and two-way audio
AI MultiSensor 2 — two independent 4K imaging sensors in one IP66 device for wide coverage from a single mount

The connective tissue is SuperLink : "dependable long-range communication while maintaining centralised UniFi management," so smoke alarms and sensors reach across a whole campus without per-building hubs.

## What you can deploy today: cameras


While the newest devices roll out, UniFi's current Protect cameras already cover most campus needs — domes and turrets for corridors and entries, bullets for perimeters, and AI cameras for wide areas.


## Access control


The new G3 Fingerprint Reader joins UniFi Access — the same platform behind the readers, intercoms and hubs you can buy now.


## Sensors and SuperLink


SuperLink already powers UniFi's long-range wireless sensors today — environmental, entry, motion and the Protect smart sensor — so you can start building life-safety and monitoring coverage now and add the smoke alarm and vape sensor when they land.


## Record and manage it all


Cameras, access and sensors all report into UniFi Protect and a UniFi NVR (or a Protect-capable gateway), with multi-site video walls via the new Site Manager.

**Q: Is UniFi Protect really suitable for a campus or large site?**

A: That's exactly what this wave targets — life safety, access control, environmental sensing and video, centrally managed across multiple buildings via SuperLink and Site Manager, with no per-camera or per-door licence.

**Q: Do these need a subscription?**

A: No — UniFi Protect and UniFi Access are license-free. You buy the hardware and a recorder/gateway; there's no ongoing per-device fee.
