Best microSD Cards for Security Cameras (High Endurance Picks)

A security camera writes video continuously, all day, every day — thousands of times more write cycles than a phone or drone ever asks of a card. Standard microSD cards wear out and corrupt in months of 24/7 duty. High endurance cards use different flash and are rated for years of continuous recording; they cost only a few dollars more.

The default recommendation for every Wi-Fi and PoE camera we sell: rated for tens of thousands of hours of continuous video, V30-rated for 4K, and cheap enough to fit one to every camera. 128GB holds roughly 1–2 weeks of continuous 1080p recording, or months of event-triggered clips.

Same idea, roughly double the rated write life. Worth it for cameras that record continuously in 2K/4K, or anywhere swapping the card means a ladder.

If the SanDisk cards are out of stock or the Samsung is on special, both alternatives carry proper endurance ratings. Whatever you pick, the word Endurance on the label is the part that matters.

• Event recording (battery cameras, doorbells): 64–128GB holds months of clips.
• Continuous 1080p: ~12GB/day → 128GB ≈ 10 days before overwrite.
• Continuous 2K/4K: go 256GB, or better, a hub/NVR with an HDD.
