Who should buy it
The 1014D is the same tablet-scope platform with a built-in DDS signal generator added — worth the step up if you inject test signals as well as measure them.
Yes, with the right probe setting: 400 V at 10X and up to 4,000 V with a 100X probe such as the P4100, behind built-in high-voltage protection. Always use a properly rated probe for mains work.
For repair, education and general electronics — mostly yes. You give up serial decoding, deep memory and the last stretch of real bandwidth versus a bench instrument, which is why FNIRSI's own DPOS350P exists for heavier work.
