UniFi Protect G5 PTZ — Complete Accessory Guide
Everything you need to complete your UniFi Protect G5 PTZ deployment — mounts, NVRs, cloud gateways, and related models in one place.
Update — June 2026: UniFi Protect has had a big refresh. Meet the G6 Edge cameras and the new Protect 7.1 + 2nd-gen NVR.
Quick start: the G5 PTZ needs PoE++ (802.3bt) power, a UniFi Protect console (a UNVR or a UDM Pro/SE) to record, and one of five first-party mounts to suit your surface. We cover each below.
Choose the right mount
Ubiquiti makes five first-party mounts for the G5 PTZ, each suited to a different surface. Picking the right one keeps the install clean and leaves the camera’s full pan-tilt-zoom range unobstructed.

Record everything: NVRs & Cloud Gateways
The G5 PTZ records to a UniFi Protect console — either a dedicated network video recorder (the UNVR family) or a Cloud Gateway that runs Protect built-in (UDM Pro / UDM SE). Choose based on how many cameras you run and whether you also need routing and switching in the same box.

Power it properly (PoE++)
The G5 PTZ draws more than standard PoE can supply, so it needs PoE++ (802.3bt). The simplest path is a PoE++ switch; for a single camera the U-PoE++ injector does the job in-line.

FAQ
It requires PoE++ (802.3bt). Power it from a PoE++ switch (such as the USW Pro Max range) or the standalone U-PoE++ injector. Standard PoE/PoE+ won’t run it.
Not on its own — the UDM SE’s built-in ports deliver PoE/PoE+, not the PoE++ the PTZ needs. Put a PoE++ switch or the U-PoE++ injector between the console and the camera.
Pendant for open or high ceilings, Surface for walls and flat ceilings, Corner for 90° wall corners, In-Ceiling for a flush look in suspended ceilings, and the Conduit Adapter when cabling runs through electrical conduit.
No — the UDM Pro and UDM SE run UniFi Protect built-in, so they double as the recorder. A dedicated UNVR is for larger camera counts or when your gateway doesn’t include Protect.
