UniFi Protect G6 Edge Cameras: 4K, Edge AI and Zero-Touch Setup

The new UniFi Protect G6 Edge series brings large 1/1.2-inch sensors, on-camera AI and direct cloud onboarding across dome, turret and bullet form factors.

Announced 24 March 2026. G6 Edge cameras are available now — see the live range on tech2have.com.au.

Ubiquiti's G6 Edge series is the most significant Protect camera refresh in years. The headline is intelligence at the edge: each camera converts raw video into useful detections on the device itself, then streams the results — no manual provisioning required.

What's new in the G6 Edge line

  • License-free cloud camera system with zero-touch deployment
  • Three form factors: dome, turret and bullet
  • Large 1/1.2-inch image sensors with 2.36× varifocal optics
  • Bullet variants integrate radar and advanced infrared
  • Built-in edge AI: object detection, tracking and semantic search
  • Compatible with UniFi NVRs for centralised recording
  • Integrates with the new Site Manager Fabrics architecture

Ubiquiti's framing: "No manual setup or provisioning required — Direct Connect to Site Manager upon power-up," with "edge AI [that] converts raw video into actionable intelligence at the source."

What about recording?

G6 cameras pair with UniFi's network video recorders. With Protect 7.1 the second-generation UNVR doubles camera capacity — see our Protect 7.1 write-up for the details.

No. UniFi Protect is license-free — you buy the cameras and a recorder (or a gateway with Protect built in) and that's it.

Yes. They join the same Protect application as your existing cameras and record to your existing UNVR or Protect-capable gateway.

A bullet with radar and long-range IR is the natural fit for perimeter and vehicle areas; domes and turrets suit entries and indoor spaces. Ask us for a site-specific recommendation.
