UniFi SuperLink Sensors Explained: Long-Range Wireless Security for Any Site

UniFi's SuperLink (USL) range adds long-range wireless door, motion, glass-break and environmental sensors to UniFi Protect — here's how the gateway and sensors work, and what to buy.

Cameras tell you what happened; sensors tell you the moment it happens. Ubiquiti's SuperLink (USL) range brings long-range wireless sensors into UniFi Protect — doors, motion, glass-break and environmental — all managed alongside your cameras.

A USL Gateway provides the long-range wireless link that the sensors talk to, then connects back to your UniFi system over PoE/USB-C. Because it's long-range, sensors can be placed across a whole house, warehouse or yard without per-room hubs.

The SuperLink Gateway

The sensor range

  • USL-ENTRY — door/window open-close detection
  • USL-MOTION — motion detection (also in 3-packs)
  • USL-GLASSBREAK — glass-break acoustic detection
  • USL-ENVIRONMENTAL — water leak, temperature, humidity, ambient light
  • USL-RELAY — I/O interface for integrating other systems
  • USL-FOB — remote control keyfob

USL Environmental sensor — take a look

Spin the model to see the compact sensor design.

  • Water Leak Detection Integrated water sensing contacts for direct surface detection, along with an external sensor port for expanded monitoring coverage.
  • CR123A Battery Operates on a single CR123A battery for long-lasting, reliable performance.
  • Temperature and Humidity Sensors Integrated temperature and humidity sensors provide continuous environmental monitoring with precise, real-time measurements. Enables proactive alerts to help maintain optimal operating conditions.

Home and SMB use cases

  • Home: door/window alerts, garage motion, a leak sensor under the hot-water system, a freeze warning in winter
  • SMB: after-hours intrusion (motion + glass-break), water-leak alerts in server rooms and stockrooms, temperature monitoring for cold storage

No — they live in UniFi Protect alongside your cameras, so alerts, automations and history are all in one place.

SuperLink (USL) is the long-range wireless security range built around a gateway; the UP smart sensors are PoE/Protect environmental sensors. They complement each other — see our UP-Sense explainer.

Any sensor event — a door opening, motion, a leak — can drive automations like recording a camera, sounding a siren or sending a notification.
